A contract was signed for Chess World Cup 2009 and Chess Olympiad 2010

On the 17th of January in the Press Centre of the Nordic Ski Centre representatives of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra and the World Chess Federation (FIDE) entered in agreement. The agreement covers holding in Khanty-Mansiysk World Chess Cups 2007 and 2009 and Chess Olympiad 2010. Upon signing of the agreement, there was a press conference with the participation of Israel Gelfer, the Honorary FIDE Vice-president, Berik Balgabaev, the Assistant to the FIDE President, Vasiliy Filipenko, the President of Ugra Chess Federation and Nikolay Bondarev, the Executive Director of the Organizing Committee. According to Israel Gelfer, 2250 players, representing 150 National Federations, will come to Ugra to participate in Chess Olympiad 2010. At the press conference the FIDE representatives noticed high organizational level of the World Chess Cup held in Khanty-Mansiysk in 2005.
