| Bulgarian chessplayer Ivan Cheparinov won third edition of the tournament Magistral Ruy Lopez 2009 in Zafra, Spain. He took the lead in round 3 and he never let it go until the end.
In the last round today, he played against Michael Adams struggling for the first place. The Bulgarian finished on 5/7, half a point ahead of the Englishman. Adams finished second and third finished the young Spanish Champion David Larino Nieto who lost to India’s top female grandmaster Koneru.
