The European Team Chess Championship 2007 for men and women took place in Crete (Greece), 27th October - 7th November, 2007.

The Russian women's team won the European team chess championship 2007 after the draw against the Ukrainian's team in the final round.

The European Team Chess Championship 2007 for men and women is taking place in Crete (Greece), 27th October - 7th November, 2007.

In the men section, the Russian team is European chess champion. In the last round the pairings are Russia-Bulgaria and Armenia-Israel.

In the women section, the Russians leads with 14 points, followed by Poland and Armenia with 12 points. In the final round the pairings are Ukraine-Russia, Armenia-Georgia and Romania-Poland.

The "Champions League" Chess Tournament (Liga de campeones) takes place in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain), November 1-15, 2007.

In round 1 the Bulgarian Veselin Topalov won his game against Anatoly Karpov and the Ukrainian Ruslan Ponomariov won his game against Judit Polgar. Last game from round 1 (Kasimdzhanov–Nisipeanu) was postponed to the rest day. * Nisipeanu replaced Alexander Khalifman in the last minute...

The European Team Chess Championship 2007 for men and women is taking place in Crete (Greece), 27th October - 7th November, 2007.

In round 5 in the men section the leaders met on table 1. Russians smashed the team of Azerbaijan with 3,5:0,5. Svidler, Morozevich and Alekseev won their games againtst Mamedyarov, Radjabov and Guseinov. After this round Russia leads with 5 victories (10 points), 2nd are the teams of Slovenia, Israel and Azerbaijan with 8 points.

In the women section 1st is the team of Poland with 9 points, followed by the teams of Georgia, Russia and Slovenia with 8 points.

Champions' League Chess Tournament - Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain) - Khalifman is replaced by Nisipeanu

The World Champion in 1999, Russian Alexander Khalifman, had to be admitted in a hospital in Russia, exactly at the time it was scheduled to travel to Vitoria to participate in the Champions' League Chess Tournament. According to the official site, Alexander Khalifman is waiting to be operated on in the next few hours. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Alexander Khalifman will be replaced by the Grand Master of Romania and European Champion in 2005, Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu, who currently finalizing its preparations to join the tournament. His game from the first round against the Uzbek Rustam Kasimdzhanov is postponed to a the days of rest.
