The "Champions League" Chess Tournament (Liga de campeones) will take place in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain), November 1-15, 2007.

Participants are the former World Chess Champions Anatoly Karpov, Judit Polgar, Alexander Khalifman, Ruslan Ponomariov, Veselin Topalov and Rustam Kasimdzhanov...

Tournament Rules
Each participant will play all others twice (double round-robin system).
Time control is 120 Minutes + 30 sec. increment on every move.

If two players tie for first, they’ll play a blitz match immediately after the last round finishes. They’ll play two games at the rate of all the moves in 4 minutes add-on 3 seconds for each move from the first, alternating colors, which shall be decided for the first game by draw. If this match is tied, they shall play a one game Armageddon (sudden death), White will have 5 minutes and Black 4, in the case of a draw Black wins first place. This game’s colors shall be decided by draw.

Place: Gran Hotel Lakua (five stars), Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain).

Participants' reception and drawing of lots will take place on November 1 at 12.00 PM in Gran Hotel Lakua of Vitoria.
The pairings for the successive rounds (round robin, double round) will be:
• 1 round: 2.11.2007, 4 PM: 1-6, 2-5, 3-4.
• 2 round: 3.11.2007, 4 PM: 6-4, 5-3, 1-2.
• 3 round: 4.11.2007, 4 PM: 2-6, 3-1, 4-5.
• 4 round: 6.11.2007, 4 PM: 3-6, 4-2, 5-1.
• 5 round: 7.11.2007, 4 PM: 6-5, 1-4, 2-3.
• 6 round: 9.11.2007, 4 PM: 6-1, 5-2, 4-3.
• 7 round: 10.11.2007, 4 PM: 4-6, 3-5, 2-1.
• 8 round: 12.11.2007, 4 PM: 6-2, 1-3, 5-4.
• 9 round: 13.11.2007, 4 PM: 6-3, 2-4, 1-5.
• 10 round: 14.11.2007, 4 PM: 5-6, 4-1, 3-2.

The closing ceremony and delivery of prizes will take place on November 15 at 22:00 PM in Gran Hotel Lakua of Vitoria.
