The World Cup 2007 in Russia - Round 1 results
FIDE Chess World Cup 2007 takes place in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia), November 22 - December 18, 2007. The winner of the World Cup 2007 receives the right to challenge the former world chess champion Veselin Topalov in a match in year 2008.
In the beginning of this knock-out tournament we understood that there are 2 players, which have not arrived in Khanty-Mansiysk. Juan Carlos Gonzalez Zamora (MEX) withdrew because of illness and Zviad Izoria (GEO) could not travel due to problems with visa. So the first winners in 1st round matches of World Chess Cup 2007 are (should be!) Bulgarian Ivan Cheparinov and Iranian Ehsan Ghaem Maghami.
The Elo-favorite of the competition and the World Blitz champion Vassily Ivanchuk made the drawing of lots, and picked up a white pawn, which means that all the players with odd numbers have White pieces in the first game of the Round One. A photo from this moment with 2 beautiful Russian ladies is shown below (Ivanchuk chose the blond girl

The first round has began today at 15.00 local time. The games can be observed LIVE on the official website of the World Cup 2007...
