The World Chess Championship 2008 (WCC 2008) will take place in the second half of the year 2008 (most probably in September-October). The World Chess Championship 2008 will be a match, not a tournament. The reigning world chess champion, Indian Viswanathan Anand will defend his title against the former world champion, Russian Vladimir Kramnik.
Another chess match should precede the World Chess Championship 2008. Bulgarian Veselin Topalov will play a match against the winner of World Cup 2007.
