Ding Liren (China) is the World Champion 2023 (classical chess), after winning the World Chess Championship Match 2023 against Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia, under FIDE flag).

After 14 classical games in the World Chess Championship Match 2023, the result was 7-7. There were 6 decisive games in total in the classical games, but the final result was 7-7!

By the rules, if the result is equal after 14 classical chess games, there would be a tiebreak. First, 4 rapid chess games should be played. After 3 draws, the Chinese Ding Liren managed to win the last 4th rapid game, winning the chess title.

Ding Liren is the first Chinese male to become World Chess Champion (classical chess)!
