Amber 2008 - Final Results and Standings

Levon Aronian is the winner of the 17th Amber Blindfold and Rapid Tournament. The 25-year-old Armenian already secured first place in the rapid section and overall tournament victory in yesterday’s round. Today he drew both his games against Peter Leko to finish on 14Ѕ points.

MTel Masters 2008 - Play Like Topalov

The organizers of one of the high ELO rated chess tournament - MTel masters 2008 anounced "Play Like Topalov" again. The Rules are simple -
Chess lovers all over the world will be required to sign up and during the games will have to guess the moves of the foreign World Champion Veselin Topalov before he will have moved. One guessed move gains 1 point. The highest score will be awarded. The results will be held in daily and final standings.

The 17th Amber Blindfold and Rapid Chess Tournament starts today

The 17th Amber Blindfold and Rapid Chess Tournament is held from March 15 to March 27 (last round) at the five-star luxury Hotel Palais de la Mediterranйe, ideally situated at the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice. Twelve top grandmasters from ten different countries take part and the total prize-fund is 216,000 Euro. The Amber tournament is organised by the Association Max Euwe in Monaco and generously sponsored by Mr and Mrs Van Oosterom. The Amber tournament is one of the most prestigious chess events in the world and the only one in which half of the games are played blindfold, i.e. without the players seeing board and pieces.

Anand finished on a draw his last game against Veselin Topalov and had 8Ѕ points.

Morelia - Linares 2008 - round 12 - Carlsen - the luckiest boy of the day

After a blunder of foreign World Chess Champion - Veselin Topalov, Norvegian Supergrandmaster Magnus Carlsen won the game between them. Topalov first had a winning position, and after a blunder in a drawn position he even lost. And so Carlsen was the only winner of the round, as Anand-Leko, Ivanchuk-Radjabov and Shirov-Aronian ended in a draw.
